Welcome to 2010! It blew in like a lion for me. My family gave me a 6-month old kitten for Christmas!

Here's a picture of our first meeting. His name is Dash - his superhero ability is speed, just like Dash,the son in the movie "The Incredibles". He's extremely photogenic, so definitely more pictures will follow.

There's a lot of fresh energy in the house: the energy of innocence and play, and the energy of destruction too! Many crumpled paper balls (his favorite plaything) have been chewed to bits, mostly on top of my bed. I remind myself that it's just a matter of surviving the next 6 months, then he'll slow down.

Create Your Abundant 2010

In order to create an abundant 2010 for my business, I'm doing some new things. Albert Einstein said: insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Since I want some new results, I'm taking different actions.

1. I'm starting a f*ree monthly teleclass. I will be giving away as much information as I possibly can on each call, always with a goal of helping you grow your business.

2. I've joined a year-long MasterMind program for 20 entrepreneurs. We'll be meeting in person later this month. The energy we're sharing through the Internet is already amazing! I know this will change my business. And I plan on sharing all the good information I learn with you too!

3. I'm focusing *every day* on my inner and outer goals, through both the MasterMind program and the 21-Day Consciousness Cleanse that Debbie Ford is doing through oprah.com. My inner goal is to feel totally and completely loved. My outer goal in 2010 is to help 40 women grow their business. Each day, I ask myself: What can I do today to take action on my inner goal? What can I do to take action on my outer goal? Both the MasterMind group and the Consciousness Cleanse help me keep my goals in the forefront of my mind, and they remind me that the secret to success is continuously taking action - no matter how small - towards my goals.

What do you want to achieve in 2010? Do you want to expand your business or your personal life in 2010? That's a question. You may be happy with your current situation, in which case you can stop reading right here.

If you want to expand in 2010, don't start by creating a list of goals. I know, that's counter-intuitive. After all, isn't January the perfect time for goals? Yes, but there's another step that has to come first.

I recommend that you start creating a fantastic 2010 by envisioning your way into your bigger game.

When you create and then consistently maintain a vision of how you want to feel and what you want to do, be and have … when you imagine yourself enjoying your new accomplishments and what they bring to your life … that creates a tremendous source of energy to help pull you forward, out of your normal routine and into something new and better.

Envisioning your bigger game is the first step toward manifesting what you want. You'll be hearing much more on manifesting from me in 2010.

I recommend you start off 2010 by imagining the life you want to inhabit, in as much detail as possible. What kind of life/business do you want? How does the person living that life act? What do they think about? How do they feel? Who do they hang out with? What actions do they take on their business?

Creating your vision of what's ideal for you gives you the energy, the juice, to move forward boldly. And it takes energy to change anything. No energy equals no change. Most of the time, traditional goals don't have any energy.

Once you've created an energetic foundation through your vision of what you want, then you can go on to the practical goals about how to get there. These goals support the bigger you and thus become important. On their own without a vision, they typically don't have much energy.

For example, this year my theme is abundance and my goal is to help 40 women grow their business. That goal works for me because it's about helping; it's about women entrepreneurs - my favorite group of people; and it's about doing something I enjoy. As an extra bonus, when I accomplish this goal, I'll earn a six-figure income. I've found however that making my goal "earn a six-figure income" is not particularly motivating. Helping 40 women - that is motivating!

Below are some of my favorite questions about goal-setting that I hope will help you create a more meaningful and abundant 2010.

Create a theme for the year and measure everything against that. Then determine your monthly priority projects. They need to support your theme.

What are the 3 actions you could take in 2010, that will have the biggest impact on your business? Do you want to undertake them? What would that involve?

Call to Action

Start writing down your vision for the life you want, in the following areas.
  • Your business or job
  • Money
  • Relationships: family and friends
  • Fitness and health
  • Fun and recreation
  • Personal, including spiritual and education
  • Philanthropy: making a difference in your community
Clip out photos or illustrations you see in magazines or papers that show that kind of life. Start putting them on poster board, and voila - there's your vision board for 2010!

Once you've got your vision for 2010, and then your goals, the next step is to create the actions that will bring your goal to fruition.
