I am so excited to share a new program, just for women in direct sales who are feeling stuck as a consultant or new team leader, and want MORE. I am a big fan of wanting MORE and I am happy to serve those of you who plan to get MORE in 2011! See Upcoming Events below for more information. In today's article, I am going "open kimono" as one of my colleagues used to say, to share one of my experiences about money, about investing in myself, and the resulting 48-hour anxiety attack that I endured (and created :-) ). As a postscript to this article, the same week I was having anxiety about money, I received 3 unexpected checks in the mail. Funny how the universe works that way :-) We each have different tolerance for risk and a different money story. Nevertheless, there's something we can learn from each other. I'm sharing this in the hope that it may give you a different way of looking at your choices about what you invest in, as well as a different way of seeing who you are in your business. Best wishes for your success, Marcy Stahl Upcoming Events1/22/2011. I'm doing a training on mindset for the Virginia consultants and leaders of 31 Gifts in Roanoke VA. 1/24/2011. I recently attended an amazing conference, SEVEN, intended to help entrepreneurs create seven-figure businesses. I'm still working toward a six-figure business, so seven figures seems a bit far off right now, but no matter. The conference was run by some coaches that I wanted to see live and in person and experience their message face-to-face instead of email. Plus my ticket was free and the conference was right down the road. I was in! I got so much out of the conference that, when they made the audience an offer on the last day, I jumped on it! I decided that yes, I would pay $14,700 to join their next program for speakers. It felt hugely empowering to make that vote of confidence in myself - that I'm worth a $14,700 investment (and more!). Even if they didn't give me any training, just writing that check would feel great (or so I imagined, prior to actually writing it). I also felt like the universe was aligning for this decision. One of my 2011 goals is to raise my speaking profile and skills. The preceding day, Friday, before I left my house to drive to the conference, I'd received a phone call offering me my very first paid speaking gig. Also on Friday, the sale of my house closed, so a large sum of money was going to hit my checking account on Monday. The money was there; the demand was there. My decision to invest was a GO. I left the conference on a high note, feeling really excited about the possibilities. Fast forward one month, when it's time to actually write the check. I started thinking to myself: "This is really a big sum of money. When that money is gone, I'm going to be back into income uncertainty and I'm tired of that." This led into a 48-hour anxiety attack that eventually ended up with me thinking: "What if I really can't make a six-figure income as a coach? What if there are only 5 coaches making a million dollars, and all they do is create a cult around them of people who pay them in the belief that they will become high-paid coaches, but they never do?!" And at that point, in a semi-paranoic state where I'm imagining a conspiracy AND a cult, I just had to stop myself. I realized that if I really believed that I could NOT create a six-figure business or I really believed that seven-figure coaches are in a conspiracy, I would not be able to get out of bed in the morning. Instead, I needed to have FAITH that I am on the right path, that I am in the right community, and that I'm making the right choices for my business. Also, I have to have FAITH that even more prosperity, wonderful people, and amazing opportunities are on their way to me, even though I can't see them right now. And faith is not comfortable. To me, comfortable is knowing what's going to happen. Comfortable is being certain of my choices. Unfortunately, that knowledge and certainty also leads to boredom and dead ends. My best business decisions and my favorite people were not planned or predicted. Now I understand that, in 2011, my job is keep my faith: faith that I'm on the right track and faith that the universe is aligned with everything I ask for. When I have that kind of faith, all my worries: about money, about my message, about anything - just fade away. Faith is powerful and it's also uncomfortable and it feels really good, all at once. CALL TO ACTIONIn your business, what belief have you had to move into FAITH about? I'd love to hear your feedback: about faith, about money, about whatever this brings up about your experiences. Just hit reply and let me know. I'll share this in my next ezine. My expert mentoring, faith in you :-), support and accountability makes a huge difference in my clients' lives. Here's what a recent Success Solutions participant had to say about their experience. "I felt that the time that we spent discussing my business and where I am poised to go with it was worth every minute. You know what you are doing and it is obvious that you have spent many hours (probably as obsessively as I have) in developing your services/product in to a truly elegant offering. I SOOOO appreciate the investment of your time and expertise in this little mini-session. It has already
paid off, as far as starting to redirect my thought patterns and my expectations." Gwynne C. Mason, Owner © 2011 Marcy Stahl WANT TO USE THIS ARTICLE IN YOUR E-ZINE OR WEB SITE?
