Why can’t anyone help you?!
You know who you are!
You’re
the perfectionist/control freak who thinks
you can do every task better, faster, cheaper.
- You’re the woman who helps OTHER people.
When your life mission is helping others, what does it
mean when you need help?
- You have serious doubts about whether you DESERVE
support. Isn’t that just for other people
who do something special to merit it?
- You have good intentions of getting support but can’t
find the time to actually look for support. And
if you did find support, that would mean letting someone
else see how messy your office is and how imperfect your
life is!
- You can’t afford to hire anyone.
Meanwhile, you’re missing out on income because
you personally can’t keep up with all aspects of
your business.
I’ve heard these reasons and more as to why women
direct sellers and women solopreneurs do not look for, much
less demand, support in their business.
Here’s the problem: when YOU have to do EVERYTHING
in your business – even the things you hate doing
and are not good at doing – your business can never
grow! It will be stuck forever at its current size.
Is that good news?!
Let me address the practical side of support first, because
nearly everyone thinks they can’t afford more
support. That means you’re doing a lot of work in
your business that does not require YOU. If you
are personally buying office supplies, doing data entry
of some kind, calling prospects, and serving your clients
– which of these tasks truly requires your unique
personality and brilliance? Only the last two! Anything
not requiring your brilliance can be outsourced to someone
whose hourly rate is lower than yours.
In your business, YOU personally create your business’s
income. To the extent that you personally do tasks that
don’t create income, you’re wasting your time.
Will your business earn more money if you a) spend
three hours organizing your office, or b) spend three hours
contacting prospects? I think that answer is pretty
clear.
These days, in this economy with the Internet, you can
absolutely find someone to do whatever you need done, for
less than you would pay yourself. And that extra time for
you can go straight into marketing and sales, which is your
most important role in your business.
Think you can’t afford to hire someone? The
real question is: How long can you wait to make more money?
You can either hire support NOW and make more money VERY
SOON, or you can hire support LATER and wait EVEN LONGER
to make more money.
That’s the practical side of support. There will
be certain points in your business’s growth where
you have to hire support NOW, no matter where the money
comes from, or you’ll stay stuck at your current income
indefinitely.
You also want to explore the emotional side of
asking for and receiving support. Setting money
aside, what aspect of hiring more support is making
you nervous? I listed some of the common issues
in the bulleted list at the start of this article.
Do you feel that it’s not OK for you to ask for
what you want? Do you feel unworthy to receive support?
Are you worried that someone you hire will judge you as
though you’re not good enough in your business?
Every person on this planet has a special gift to share.
Your gift is in your business. If you want to help more
people, you’re going to need support.
The great news is that plenty of other people WANT to help
YOU! They love data entry, and organizing files, and everything
else you hate! They want to support you and make a difference
by helping your business; they don’t want to judge
you.
CALL TO ACTION
Do you want to: wait to make more money, stay small
in your business, wait to help more people, and keep doing
EVERYTHING in your business?
Or do you want to: make more money sooner, grow
your business, help more people, and do only the things
you love?
If you want the second option, then asking for and receiving
high-quality support from trustworthy talented people is
the way to go!
Start making a list of everything in your business
that a) you don’t want to do and b) doesn’t
require your unique personality and brilliance.
Next, group those tasks into different positions and pay
rates. You may have basic admin tasks that are $12/hr; web
site support that’s $30/hr; and so on. That’s
the starting point for your Craigslist ad. I look forward
to seeing your ad shortly!
Here's how I helped my client Leah, who started in a state
of ambivalence and ended up as the top seller in her company.
"Before I started working with Marcy, I was in
a state of ambivalence and not confident in my own decision
making. I was stuck and not moving forward in many areas
of my life. As a mom and an entrepreneur, I was really confused
about how to achieve what I wanted. I was attracted to Marcy
because she really listened and gave me exactly what I needed
to hear. She always says the right thing at the right time.
She is so in tune with my goals and knows my personality
so well, that the solutions she has given me as well as
new insights that have launched me forward are like going
to a master tailor and having the perfect suit made. Because
of our sessions together, I have rediscovered my passion
and purpose and I have had some life-changing shifts that
have had a very positive impact on and gave me back my enthusiasm
and drive.
As a result of our work together, I now feel more confident
and I love what I do. I was just honored as tops in sales
with my company and a year ago that would not have happened.
I'm in a new place in my life, no longer indecisive and
fearful, but committed and confident. Thank you, Marcy!"
